Vintage Rope

A long time ago, c.2014, I had a rope session with a very lovely person, and we did some fun stuff with jute and fluoro rope. Covid’s not over yet and I haven’t got much new content in the queue, so I dug out my favourite shots from this shoot and polished them up for this small gallery.

Usually a rope shoot is half an hour of tying and ten minutes of photos and then I run out of ways to arrange what is, for all intents and purposes, a person who really can’t move very much. This shoot started off as an idea to shoot with that incredible dress, and not much more. Then the dress came off, and we progressed from a chest harness to a hands-and-feet tie, and finally to the pink and black tie, which I think looks lovely in the light from the halogen worklights.

Rope is hard to do. It’s hard to do interesting patterns that aren’t the same every time, and it’s hard to come up with interesting compositions after the rope is tied.

But I think we did well this time.

Anyway, I hope you like it.
